Addressing Teen Pregnancy Prevention for more than a Decade
|
 |
The Durham Coalition on Adolescent Pregnancy
Prevention (DCAPP) held its first meeting September 1993. At that time, Annette Carrington, health educator, and Clementine
Buford, school nurse, severed as co facilitators. In 1994, DCAPP held it’s first Teen Pregnancy Prevention Summit, “the
Right Stuff for Durham Community” at Campus Hills Recreation Center, Durham, North Carolina. The facilitator for the day was Dr. Bambi Sumpter from South Carolina. Later in 1994, DCAPP held
it’s first activities for Let’s Talk Month, which were a program on WTVD Reflections-Being an Askable Parent and
a community forum called PIE – Parent Interested in Education. DCAPP bylaws were developed and adopted in 1994. DCAPP
received it is 501 C (3) status in 1996.
